"Do you have a job? " she asks flatly. His answer is, as you might expect, hella shady. And things only go downhill from there. There's arguing. Lots of booze. More arguing. And then he brings a gun into the house, and it's the one (I infer) that's eventually found in Shauna's car, which sends her to jail and Deja to Randall and Beth's house the first time. Deja's stint there is condensed, and when Shauna picks her up and drives her home — picking up from what we saw in Episode 10 — she promises the teen that Lonzo is gone, and it's just the two of them. "I'm going to get it right this time, Deja, " she says. And I believe that she means it… in that moment. But it's not long before Deja is back at the Pearsons' to ask for money, which Shauna spends on Lonzo's bail (! ). Deja is incredulous, and takes it upon herself to try to pawn her clothes in order to gather the money needed to evade eviction. But the landlord kicks them out, and after the Pearsons find the pair sleeping in Shauna's car, they bring them back to the house.

What a good Super Bowl! And that's how Jack's last day goes. It's just a normal day: He fights with his teenagers, he eats some chili, has sex with his wife, makes plans for the future. Just a normal day. That night, Jack heads downstairs thinking he's heard Kevin come home. You can tell he wants closure on their earlier argument. Instead, he finds Randall in the kitchen, reeling from his first kiss. Jack makes sure his son was a gentleman (duh) and then Randall goes to bed, with a good night shoulder pat from his dad. And then Jack, ever the dutiful husband, cleans up the messy kitchen that Rebecca decided to leave for the morning. He puts the food away and sweeps the floor. He wipes down the counters with that red towel and tosses it next to the crock pot that he turns off, but forgets that his neighbor who gave it to him all those years ago when they first moved in told him that the knob was a little finicky. And in the dark kitchen, that finicky crock pot turns back on and begins to spark, which lights that red towel on fire, and then the kitchen curtains.
"And I guess, if you think about it hard, that other stuff everyone's got, too. Things that hurt them. Things that make them feel better, " she says. "I'm really tired. " Randall is on the verge of sobbing — we're talking full pooling — but he sits next to her and puts an arm around her and says, "I know, sweetheart. " And she just leans into him like he's the only thing holding her up. When Randall comes downstairs, Shauna has her bags packed and is standing by the door, Beth nearby. "I've gotta go, " she says off his questioning look. "And I can't take her with me. " Now it's your turn. What did you think of the episode? Sound off in the comments!

But Shauna doesn't want to hold the infant after she's born, which causes Grandma to get real: "I know you're only 16, but playtime is over, " she gently warns. And when Shauna finally holds her child, the love is evident on her face. Shauna and Deja live with Grandma, who dotes on the child and takes Shauna to task for leaving her 3-year-old alone at night. The younger woman protests that she was just a few blocks away at a guy's house, but Grandma doesn't want to hear it. "I can't carry this for you forever, " she says after they argue… and because this is This Is Us, she's dead by the next scene. (To be fair, some time has passed. ) "What are we gonna do now? " Shauna asks her kid, crying. Given how the rest of the episode goes, I don't think it's a rhetorical question. Little Deja, perhaps aware that she's going to have to be the grown-up from here on in, reads Goodnight, Moon aloud as Shauna cries. (Side note: That montage of everyone — including Jack and his little brother — reading Goodnight, Moon might just have killed me.

Cause of death? Tender ache. ) ON THE MOVE | Deja's role as responsible caretaker continues into her teens. She's the one who knows where her mom's work uniform is, the one who pays the bills, the one who plans a special dinner to celebrate Shauna's birthday. But when she's home alone, cooking Grandma's Jambalaya, she cuts her palm badly while opening a can of tomatoes. And when Shauna doesn't pick up her phone, a panicked Deja has the wherewithal to wrap her hand in a kitchen towel and get herself to the emergency room. That's where she first encounters Linda the social worker, who's called to look into Deja's case. Shauna eventually shows up, smelling of alcohol and explaining that she and a few co-workers went out after her shift to celebrate (though she hadn't mentioned it to Deja) and that her phone had died. Deja's injury is pretty painful to witness, but it's way worse to see how alone she is in so much of her life, especially when compared to how the Pearsons always have at least one other person around to help them out/annoy them/keep them company.

He's still dealing with anger over the loss of his football career, and he's taking that anger out on his parents. Hard. Before he goes over to Sophie's house, he pretty much tells Jack and Rebecca that he's angry because he's going to end up ordinary like them. You can tell Kevin knows what he said was wrong when he calls the house later to ask Rebecca if Jack is mad. She tells Kevin that Jack isn't mad, just hurt. Kevin says he didn't mean it. She asks if Kevin wants to talk to his dad and tell him that. No, he says, he'll just talk to him tomorrow. Oh, Kev. He's been living with that decision for his entire life. That leaves Jack and Rebecca home alone. Which honestly, isn't the worst. They make plans for the future. Jack is going to start small with Big Three Homes, and just flip houses for awhile. Rebecca has the perfect first house for him. Suddenly, it dawns on Jack that Rebecca should be his business partner. They are giddy with excitement and celebrate with a super hot makeout session that leads them to the bedroom.

Oct 10, 2019 My favorite show. This is a tear-jerker but has very relatable characters that you learn to love. I love the feel-good episodes that teach you simple but great lessons! May 28, 2019 Great season better than season one Milo and justin Hartly they were the best number one episode makes me cry like a bab Mar 19, 2019 Picking up where it just left off, This Is Us continues to hold our attention, our hearts, and our emotions hostage. The spectacular cast of actors and actresses ensure that we are in for a roller coaster of emotions. Nov 04, 2018 "This Is Us" continua a ser um dos melhores dramas na televisão com inúmeros momentos comoventes. O elenco é estupendo, especialmente Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown e Ron Cephas Jones. A produção e as histórias que envolvem os personagens continuam a ser espetaculares. Oct 29, 2018 Such an awesome change from the constant violence, drugs, sex and crime we get from most other series. It's easy to love these characters.
"That'll Be the Day" tells the story of Jack's last day. Like so many things with this show, what's actually going on isn't anything monumental, but every single scene set in the past has extra weight to it because we know what we know. Everything has a tinge of sadness once you realize that this Super Bowl day is also the day Jack dies. (Once we see Rebecca in the same Steelers shirt we saw her wearing as she wailed in the car outside of her burned down house, we know for sure. ) Every conversation Jack has with his kids has extra meaning because we know it's the last one. If only his dumb, angsty teenagers knew it. Honestly, how many times did you yell, "Just be nicer to your dad! " or "Tell him you love him! " or "Talk to him right now, Kevin! TALK TO HIM NOW. " But that's life, right? You usually don't see the defining moments coming. If you did, one has to assume the Teen Big Three would have gladly stayed home and watched the Super Bowl with their parents. Instead, as Jack and Rebecca attempt to get their kids pumped up for their last family Super Bowl before college, all three of them make plans to go elsewhere.
