Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) se aventura en una misión en el espacio para curar varias enfermedades de la tierra y alargar la vida. Desgraciadamente no contaba con el presupuesto para dicha misión, acudiendo entonces al doctor Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon), con quien ya mantenía contacto desde la universidad, pero no se llevaban bastante bien.
