Miss Stevens Streaming Ita
A low-key and intelligent character study, "Miss Stevens" doesn't escape from its indie-film commonplaces often enough to become really distinctive, but it has enough conscientiousness about its people that it doesn't let the commonplaces fester into movie-sinking clichés. Directed by Julia Hart (who scripted 2014's woman-centered Civil-War-set drama "The Keeping Room") from a screenplay she co-wrote with Jordan Horowitz, it's an offhand tribute to teaching—its titular protagonist, played by Lily Rabe, is a high-school English teacher of obvious sensitivity, integrity and faith in her calling. She's just having a tough time with, you know, life, and this picture works to capture that in a purposeful way. The movie begins with the slight, attractive Rabe seated in a theater, reluctant to leave after the lights have gone up. We find out what's there for her, or rather what's not there, later on. Hart leaps headlong into Miss Stevens' weekend mission: to drive three students to an off-campus drama competition, where the kids will deliver monologues and perhaps bring home prizes that will get their school some arts funding.

The best I can come up with is: "meh". It didn't really go anywhere cohesive, and I was not drawn into the characters and their respective plot lines. If I don't find compelling reasons to care for the main characters, in any film, then it deserves a "pass" for me. on this one. Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2018 Verified Purchase LIke, what is with this kid and being able to have layers and deliver monologues so incredibly well? He made this film. I enjoyed the story, pacing, and other actors but I just love Timmy so much. Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2019 Verified Purchase Although the plot is slow at times and somewhat predictable, the acting is excellent. Timothee Chalamet's performance, in particular, is striking. Top reviews from other countries 1. 0 out of 5 stars Not region 2 Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 19, 2019 Verified Purchase It's not region 2 so I can't watch it. I can't remember it saying it wasn't region 2 but if it did, it was my own fault.
Recommended to teachers who want a "this is what it's all about" smile or two.

A sweet, small movie with heart and some great scenes. The story is wonderful and the characters are great! Timothee Chalamet (the reason I bought this on dvd) is phenomenal in his role here. It's the story of a young high school teacher who chaperones three acting class students on a trip out of state so that the students can audition in front of judges. Timothee gives an incredible performance here. His audition is mind blowing! I got goosebumps watching him! Highly recommend this one if you can find it. Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2019 Verified Purchase After reading other"s review—- I ended up buying it on sale and looked forward to my opinion it was just OK— neither real bad or real good. When the movie ended— I thought that I had missed something and rewound some of it to see.
